Google Announces $199 Nexus 7 Tablet

There’s a lot going on at Google I/O 2012 this year but one of the most anticipated gadget Google launched was the new tablet everyone’s talking about: Google Nexus 7. While the iPad indisputably claims king among 10 inch tablets, Google’s new tablet seems to be challenging for that very top spot in the 7 inch category.

So just how much can Google squeeze into the Nexus 7? Below are some features worth noting:

  • 7″ 1280×800 HD Display (216ppi)
  • Quad core Tegra 3 Processor
  • 1.2MP Front Facing Camera
  • Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean)
  • 8GB or 16GB Storage
  • 340grams
  • 4325mAh battery, up to 8 hours video
  • Wifi & Bluetooth

Everything looks great except for the storage. I’m not quite sure if 16GB is going to satisfy folks who watch movies and dramas on their devices plus there’s no expandable storage capability. Unfortunately for us, the pre-order page isn’t taking international customers yet though it did state they are working to bring the device to more countries asap.

Starting at US$199 for the 8GB and US$249 for the 16GB, would you consider getting one when it becomes available here and how would you use it differently if you already own the iPad?
