Xiaomi Redmi Android Smartphone Retails For S$169 Launches This Weekend

If you haven’t heard of Xiaomi, they are a popular Android smartphone manufacturer and software company behind the MIUI custom interface ROM. There have been news they will be entering Singapore market and come this weekend 21st February 2014 they are launching their Redmi phone a.k.a Hongmi (红米) for sale here in Singapore.

Redmi is a budget yet capable Android smartphone, pumping out 1.5GHz of quad-core processing goodness, features a 4.7″ IPS display, dual SIM card support and 8-megapixel camera. The dual-SIM function will come useful when you are travelling to countries such as China that support TD-SCDMA network with 3G.

Retailing for only S$169.00 without subscription plans from any telco, the price is comparable to the pricing in China which is a very welcomed move. This is even lower to the similar specced Moto G budget Android phone which cost slightly below S$300. Make this your backup phone, a phone for your elderly folks at home or even a phone for your kids. Phones like Redmi won’t break your bank and you can further reduce your mobile phone bills with prepaid cards.
