When we talk about Polaroid, we usually relate the brand to instant cameras and film. The last few years we have seen Polaroid transitioning in digital photography, attempting to re-build demand for it’s niche market.

Earlier this year they unveiled Polaroid Cube, a tiny adorable and colorful fun camera that not only take 124-degree wide-angle photos but 1080p videos as well. It’s waterproof up to 2 meters, shockproof and comes with 2MB of internal storage, expandable up to 32GB via a microSD slot. It also has a magnetic base so you could stick it to your helmet, skateboard, bike or any metallic surface and get creative.

With smartphone cameras becoming more capable of taking better resolution photos and videos, the Polaroid Cube is attempting to complement rather than compete. You could use Polaroid Cube in the beach, water sports, or extreme sports. One might ask why not use a GoPro camera? GoPros are no doubt great portable and action cameras but they are still pretty bulky and very pricey, plus the fact they look a bit too serious. That’s the gap Polaroid Cube seeks to fill – by being fun, ridiculously tiny measuring only 35mm, and pocketable. A nifty photography gadget everyone would smile at when you take it out of your pocket.

Polaroid Cube will be available this month according to their official website, sources suggest it will retail for US$99 (est~ S$123.88).
