Fibre broadband wars are heating up, MyRepublic your move next

It’s been a while since MyRepublic started offering Singapore fastest 1Gbps fibre broadband speeds at $49 per month yet despite that, the local bigger telcos hasn’t made their move to reduce the prices for the premium bandwidth.

M1 is the first of the big 3 to make the move, announcing today that they will be offering for a limited time the same price of $49 per month for a 1Gbps downloading bandwidth (2 year contract), though not mentioning the upload speed limits. Additionally M1’s new broadband plan doesn’t throttle BitTorrent downloads, comes with a 24-month free static IP subscription and the usual ONT Activation + Fibre termination point waiver.

Note that no wireless router will be provided for the 1Gbps contract but new subscribers will have the option to purchase ASUS RT-AC68U router at $229 or ASUS RT-AC87U router at $289.

With M1 taking on the competition in the race to become the most affordable and fastest fibre broadband provider, it will be interesting and favourable for new consumers if MyRepublic does react with a new pricing plan or perhaps SingTel and Starhub introducing similar offers.
