What do you get when you take a nixie tube from the 1950s and mix it up with today’s engineering? A concoction of steampunk, stylish and hi-tech throwback in a clock.
Created by the same gentleman behind the Blub Kickstarter project, Blub Uno features the same cold-cathode display, except this time round it’s a larger and single tube. The feedback from the earlier project gave Duncan Hellmers a lot to think about, so much so he decided to refine the design and features.[perfectpullquote]A luxurious clock for folks with deep pockets[/
Blub Uno is smarter too, able to not just tell time but also temperature and date all controlled via a remote. And as if it isn’t cool enough, the backlighting colour at the bottom of the tube is now adjustable. You also won’t need to worry about power incompatibilities now since it powers up via a micro-USB port.
Blub Uno is available in three designs – Plain Aluminium (AU$299), Alumnium & Bamboo (AU$329) and a limited edition Black (AU$349), all comes with free shipping worldwide. Yes it pricey and somewhat overly luxurious for a clock but if you have deep pockets, why not?Pledge Now
