This is why the new Apple MacBook only has one Type-C USB port

Apple latest MacBook is better, thinner and lighter but many were left baffled when the new notebook only featured a single Type-C USB port. Surely situations where users need to charge the MacBook, plug in a flash drive or HDMI display at the same time still exist.

If you have already made up your mind to purchase the new MacBook as soon as it releases but still a tad worried about the single port, now you can rest your mind since this accessory just turn up in the Apple store, a USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter. The new adapter lets you connect the Macbook to an HDMI display, a standard USB device and a charging cable concurrently.

While it’s still an extra accessory to bring around, it’s probably an excuse for Apple to attribute this inconvenience to a minimalistic redesign and ideally everything should already reside on the cloud. Unfortunately, until similar third-party adapters and knock-offs come around, you will have to set aside a pricey S$118 if you wish to get your hands on one soon.
