A few days ago, Xiaomi announced a couple of new products in their line. The Mi TV 2S is the latest successor to their TV range, a 48-inch 4K resolution panel with ultra-thin 9.9mm aluminium frame powered by the latest MStar 6A928 chipset.
Xiaomi claims the new Mi TV 2S has improved clarity, contrast and color and comparing it side by side with leading TV manufacturers such as Samsung, Sharp and Sony latest 4K TVs. Xiaomi has also used a precise backlight module design to prevent light leakage on their latest TV, a flaw that has been haunting LED TVs since its introduction many years ago.
Prices start from ¥2,999 (S$662.38) onwards, with the option to purchase the home-theatre edition which comes with a soundbar and subwoofer. The Mi TV 2S will begin retailing in China starting 28 July 2015.
The question now is when will Mi Singapore start retailing the TV range since its first model introduced a couple years back, we still haven’t seen it appearing on their online store here locally. The alternative is to rely on parallel importers to bring them over, such as this Qoo10 seller. You can read more about Mi TV 2S from Xiaomi’s China website here (Chinese language).
A new addition to Xiaomi home products is the launch of their Mi Water Purifier. Reverse Osmosis is known to be one of the best method to remove harmful metals and bacteria from the water but conventionally the system requires a large setup and only manage to recover 5 to 15% of drinkable water, the remainder is discharged as waste water.
Xiaomi claims that their water purifier is capable of producing 50% purified water, a tremendous improvement compared to industry standards. Unfortunately, Mi Water Purifier doesn’t come with a separate tap by itself and you will have to install it with an existing tap, Xiaomi thankfully provided 6 adapters that is compatible with most water taps.
The Mi Water Purifier (Chinese language) is priced at ¥1,299 and is too available in China at the moment only.
