Things seem to be going downhill for local startup Pirate3D, according to a report by The Straits Times. The 3D printer maker which begun their Kickstarter campaign with huge popularity more than 2 years ago has failed to deliver, leaving 60% of the backers asking for clarifications.

The article has also mentioned Pirate3D running into cashflow issues and will require additional months to source for funding, and they have since stopped production of The Buccaneer 3D printer.

Kickstarter, a platform for aspiring individuals and companies to launch new products and ideas, does not mediate or compensate when disputes between backers and project owners according to their terms of use policies.

In the latest update provided by Pirate3D, the company claims it is not shedding obligations but will continue to find ways to build a new machine at a lower cost. Pirate3D however, did not indicate a date on when that might happen.
