EZ-Link has just launched a new initiative allowing users of NFC-enabled supported smartphones to pay for public transport rides and retail payments at over 30,000 EZ-Link acceptance points including shopping, food & beverage and taxis.

The move means you can simply tap your Android smartphone for payments without the need for an EZ-Link card. Interested customers, however, will need to change their SIM card to an EZ-Link SIM Card available at the three major telcos here – M1, Singtel and Starhub. Newer iPhone models with NFC unfortunately, don’t make it to the list since Apple uses it exclusively for Apple Pay at the moment.

Only selected LG, Samsung and Sony smartphones are included in the first wave of launch according to EZ-Link NFC’s website. You can view the listed of supported phones here.
