Xiaomi introduces Mi Induction Rice Cooker and it’s not an April Fools’ Joke

It's a WiFi enabled smart cooker too

There’s no stopping Xiaomi. Once known for their affordable and fast smartphones, the China company has more recently become a household name in… yes, household products. Just an hour ago, they announced their latest product – Mi Induction Heating Pressure Rice Cooker a.k.a MIJIA (米家).

Which isn’t surprising, since they achieved relatively good success with their earlier air purifiers and water filtering systems. Xiaomi’s latest rice cooker isn’t just sleek looking but some of its most advanced hardware features include the pot’s gray cast iron lining with PFA coated powder (no more rice sticking to the walls), a magnetic relief valve to precisely control pressure and optimize boiling point as well as its induction heating for even cooking.

Needless to say, all that tech will deliver a flavourful and more evenly cooked rice. More incredibly, MIJIA can recognise over 200 brands of rice simply by scanning rice packaging labels from the Mi Home app when it’s connected via WiFi. It then intelligently chooses the best heating method and according to Xiaomi, the app has 2,450 (not typo) different heating methods.

MIJIA is priced at an affordable ¥999 (est. ~S$208.49) but it will only start accepting orders on Xiaomi China’s website on 6th April 2016.
