California Fitness members planning to meet your regular training at the Raffles Place club, you can either give it a miss or head over to another branch because this one is done and dusted.
On Saturday, the gym chain put up a signboard on the Raffles club entrance highlighting that the branch will be closed until further notice, posting a Facebook announcement at the same time.
Many club members are puzzled by the move, asking if the closure is temporarily due to toilet malfunction or maintenance. However, a Straits Times report dislcose that the unit was repossessed due to its failure to pay its rent.
Members are asked to visit the remaining outlets in Novena and Bugis but concerns were raised on the sustainability of the gym chain after having shut down all outlets in Hong Kong and the financial trouble here in Singapore.
Disgruntled members with unused training sessions have sought Consumers Association of Singapore (CASE) for help. CASE has also advised affected members to contact their hotline at 6100 0315 for advice.
