California Fitness Bugis outlet
Yet another piece of bad news for the troubled gym chain California Fitness.
In an official media statement sent out early this morning, owners of the California Fitness chain here in Singapore JV Fitness has announced that they are closing all outlets including the ones in Novena and Bugis.
According to reports, the company lacks the finances to keep the remaining outlets running. JV Fitness has also engaged liquidators Ferrier Hodgson to explore options to enable the business to operate but it is necessary to cease the operations of the fitness centres with immediate effect.
An online petition titled “Get California Fitness to refund its victims” failed to capture the attention of the Ministry of Trade and Industry and a lawyer has cautioned that it will be difficult for customers to secure refunds as any assets of the business will go towards paying landlords, tax authorities or employees first.
