Amazon new Echo Dot will make all your rooms smarter than before

The smaller version of Amazon Echo

Gone are the days where Amazon are just selling books. Today Amazon is a tech company that creates stuff to make living a little smarter.

If you didn’t know, Amazon created a smart speaker called Amazon Echo a couple years back. Simply ask a question with the wake word “Alexa” and it will respond with an answer. The device is also capable of voice interaction, music playback, alarm, checking weather and traffic, and controlling other smart devices using itself as a home automation hub.

Two years later, they created Echo Dot which is basically a smaller version of the Echo without speakers. Due to its smaller size and cost, Echo Dot can be placed in multiple rooms, making your home smarter anywhere. The second generation of Echo Dot is due to release on 20 October later this year, even smaller and has a multi-direction speaker and mic now.

Perhaps the better news is the Echo Dot’s bundle purchase special – Buy five and get one free. Enter code DOT6PACK to receive the free piece. Amazon won’t ship them to Singapore, but you can always use forwarders such as HopShopGo, Borderlinx or Comgateway to get them in.

Although the device isn’t officially supported here in Singapore and you won’t be able to buy your paper towels through speech, you will still be able to ask questions and connect smart devices with it.
