The messaging war just got bigger

Too many messaging apps? Clearly, Google doesn’t think so.

The tech giant is introducing Google Allo today, calling it a smart messenger that helps you say more and do more. It’s essentially a marriage of Facebook Messenger and Snapchat features with an additional Google Assistant that will answer your e.g. sports, weather, travel questions and performing actions taking data off your Google accounts.

Google Allo is also smart enough to predict and suggest responses over time, in your own style. Other features include stickers exclusive to Google Allo, changing of text sizes with swipe gestures on the send icon, doodling on photos, and an Incognito Mode with end-to-end encryption of the chat.

Unfortunately, Google Allo is only available in selected countries at the moment but we were able to download a working app by signing in to the App Store with a USA account (for iPhone). For Android users, you can pre-register for the app on Google Play.
