You can buy a powerful HackBook Elite laptop to run Mac OS X for just $349

Intel i5 processor and 120GB SSD

Can’t bear to splurge on the latest Apple MacBook? Here’s an alternative that will get your money’s worth.

HackBook Elite was born from the lack of cheaper MacBook after its founder spent years in college trying to get Apple’s operating system to work on third-party laptops. Turns out he found the perfect laptop and after tweaking it and setting up a website, the rest is history.

The HP-branded laptop comes powered with an Intel Core i5 Processor, a whopping 6GB or memory (expandable to 16GB), 120GB SSD or 320GB standard HDD, features glass touchpad and a 14.1″ anti-glare display, and an OS X-compatible Wi-Fi adapter.

Its price? A very attractive US$349 (+US$49 shipping to Singapore). Do keep in mind that it doesn’t come preinstalled with OS X though because that would be illegal. You can also choose to install other operating systems of your choice such as Linux or Windows.

Only 500 units available for limited period pre-order launch which comes with the free SSD upgrade. Interested? Better hurry before Apple sends them a cease and desist.
