Beppu City’s mayor aims to open ‘Onsen Spamusement Park’ if this video reaches 1 million views

The Japan city is home to 2,000 onsen (hot spring)

You probably haven’t heard of Beppu in Japan but the city that sits on the southern Japanese island of Kyushu is home to over 2,000 onsen (also known as hot springs).

Beppu is situated between Beppu Bay and volcanic mountains, boasting the highest yield of nutrient-rich water, mud and sand in the country. The mayor wants to attract more recognition to boost tourism to the city and went on to launch a promotional video with the idea of an onsen Spamusement Park.

Spa-serve ice cream! Mmmm…

More than 150 extras dressed in towels were hired to create the video, even the local fire department helped out by carrying more than 12 tonnes of spring water to Beppu’s Rakutenchi amusement park.

Towards the end of the video, Beppu’s mayor vows to make the idea a reality if the video reaches 1 million views. So go on, share the video with your friends and who knows, you just might be making holiday plans to Beppu’s Spamusement Park really soon.
