30% cheaper than GrabCar

Say hi to GrabShare and a lower fare, granted you don’t mind sharing your ride with someone else. The new feature, announced today and available now, is similar to Uber’s uberPOOL, a service that picks up other riders that are heading the same direction.

The reward for using GrabShare is 30% cheaper fare, but only during this launch promotion since the option is still in beta phase, which means the discount might be smaller in the future once the service becomes well-tested. You can only bring an additional passenger along on GrabShare. Otherwise, you will have to book a GrabCar for larger groups.

Similarly to uberPOOL, GrabShare doesn’t allow multiple destinations, has a waiting time limit of three minutes (one minute more than Uber) and a guarantee that there will not be more than one additional drop-off point. There’s also the possibility of getting the ride all by yourself if nobody is booking a ride on the same route and the 30% discount still applies.

You can learn more about how fares and tolls are shared from Grab’s announcement from their blog here.
