Singtel first to upgrade 4G speeds to 450Mbps, other telcos to follow in coming months

As fast as 1Gbps by end year

The race to become the fastest 4G network in Singapore has begun with Singtel first to upgrade their mobile network.

The boost means that Singtel subscribers now enjoy speeds up to 450Mbps, 150Mbps more than before. According to the information from Singtel website, the upgrade is essentially LTE-advanced, but users will still need to have compatible mobile phones to enjoy the faster speeds. Find out if your phone can support LTE-Advanced speeds through this Wikipedia page.

Some popular mobile phones that support LTE-Advanced include Samsung Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, Apple iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, HTC One (M10), Xiaomi Mi 5 and Mi Note Pro.

As it stands, Starhub and M1 are still offering the same 300Mbps speeds but are preparing to upgrade their networks to support up to 1Gbps by the end of 2017.
