Xiaomi's back in the tablet business

Xiaomi Mi Pad 3 Tablet 7.9-inch (2017)

It’s been well over a year since the last Mi Pad tablet was released and just when we thought Xiaomi has forgotten about their tablet business, the Beijing-based tech company quietly launches a new model – Mi Pad 3.

New High-Performance MediaTek Chip

Xiaomi decided to go ahead with a new MediaTek MT8176 hexacore 64-bit processor instead of Intel Atom in Mi Pad 3 this time round. The new chip boasts a clock frequency of 2.1GHz, supports h.265 / HEVC video decoding and should have no issues running the latest game titles and demanding Android apps.

Its 7.9-inch Retina display features an impressive 2048 x 1536 resolution with 326ppi. Other features include a 4GB RAM + 64GB storage, a 6,600mAh battery (Xiaomi claims 12 hours continuous video playback), a 13-megapixel f/2.2 camera with 1080p video recording support, WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.1, and the latest MIUI 8.2 Android-based operating system.

The Mi Pad 3 is officially priced at ¥1,499 in China, but you can get one now from Qoo10 now at S$345 with an option to pick up from the shop for free. It also comes with a 6-month warranty honoured by the seller.
