Amazon.com is still offering free shipping to Singapore customers, despite report from CNA

It's a glitch, they say

You are probably shocked to learn today that America’s largest online marketplace has decided to start charging Singapore customers shipping fees, even if your purchases are above US$125.

According to this article from Channel NewsAsia (CNA), the news site contacted Amazon and found out that they have ended free shipping to Singapore, providing a chat transcript to confirm it.

Wait a minute…

We too are a bit surprised to learn that, since the free shipping option has been around for quite a while now. We also contacted Amazon.com customer service officer (CSO) and had a chat with them and was further advised that the free shipping option is in fact still available. There seems to be an issue providing free shipping to Singapore customers, according to the CSO and they are trying to resolve that.

Ganesh is the CSO we talk to and he further confirms that the associate that provided CNA with the reply had agreed to, is a temporary problem.

So if you are planning to make a purchase from Amazon anytime soon, you can request the shipping fee waiver from the customer service by Chat option here (scroll to the bottom, select the issues).
