Let’s talk about that sexy camera on the new Samsung Galaxy S9 phone

Available in Singapore on March 16

The new Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ (Lilac Purple)

The biggest highlight of Samsung’s latest flagship smartphone this year isn’t how beautiful it looks or how powerful it is, but rather its camera.

Samsung claims the camera on the new Galaxy S9 pair works like an actual human eye, featuring dual aperture that adjusts between f/1.5 – 2.4 to adapt to any lighting situation when you take a snapshot, up to 30% better low light performance than its predecessor. The 12-megapixel camera also has an upgraded dual-pixel autofocus tech for a faster and reliable focusing.

If slow-mo is your kind of thing, the S9 is capable of taking 960 frames per second. The new camera app now comes with new features that lets you edit clips, add music or make it into a video wallpaper.

Other highlights of the camera include Bixby Vision that translates foreign languages in real time, find out where to go with AR Place, and a fun AR Emoji that turns your face into an emoji which you can use across messaging apps.

So, when will it be available?

Samsung new phones will be available in Singapore from 16 March and will come in two models – S9 with a 5.8-inch screen and the larger S9+ with a 6.2-inch screen, both infinity displays. Sadly, the new pair has different dimensions than the S8, so the current cases won’t fit.

Price wise, the S9 (only in 64GB) will be available at $1,198 while the S9+ 64GB at $1,348 and the 256GB variant at $1,489.

Colors include Lilac Purple (above image), Midnight Black, Titanium Grey and Coral Blue.

Currently, only Singtel is offering pre-orders starting from 1 March, 12pm onwards. You can find out more here.
