SingPost has just announced that they will be raising local and international postage rates. Local postage for 20g and below will increase 4 cents from the current 26 cents to 30 cents. International rates will increase between 5 to 25 cents depending on the country zones.
SingPost has also highlighted the adjustment will help fund $100 million to provide service enhancements such as improving sorting infrastructure for higher accuracy in mail service, hiring 200 additional delivery staff, quality control checkers, extended delivery day (Saturday) , 24/7 customer service hotline and more. To mitigate the impact, SingPost will give 5 cent rebate on franked mail for a year starting from 1 October 2014, every household will receive 6 free local stamps and charity organisations enjoy free postage.
