Chun Cui He milk tea gets food recall from AVA

The popular Taiwanese drink “Just Drink” a.k.a. Chun Cui He (純萃喝) that went viral lately and gotten everyone crazy about it here in Singapore has just hit a wall.

Turns out the milk tea comes with a food additive that isn’t on the permitted list under Food Regulations of Singapore. According to the AVA Food Alert, only the Milk Tea is being recalled. The Latte, however, is not listed. AVA is working with the importer in the recall process and has further advised that there is no food safety risk associated with the recalled products.

L-theanine is the compound found in the tea that has caused the AVA food alert and recall. The amino acid is an organic compound that is found primarily in plant and fungal species including green tea and is said to have calming effects.

ABANA is the distributor for the Taiwanese beverage is Singapore and they have yet to respond to the recall.
