The second largest species in the penguin-dom, King Penguins can stand up to 100cm tall and weighs over 15kg. Second only to the Emperor Penguin, they are mostly found in the subantarctic islands.

One of its chick, named Maru, has been hatched, raised and cared for by the park keepers here in Singapore. She is now ready to meet the world and visitors can now catch her in action at Jurong Bird Park!

From the video provided by Wildlife Reserves Singapore, we can see the rest of the penguins curious about Maru, welcoming their new cute friend. According to the organisation, Maru’s parents are also in the enclosure as well.

This is the first time a new King Penguin has appeared in nearly a decade at Jurong Bird Park.

Park tickets are priced at $29 per adult, $19 for children 3 – 12 years old and $13 for senior citizens. Enjoy up to 15% discount on the rates when you purchase the tickets online.
