Sayonara to paid deposits after bike-sharing operator oBike call it quits

Customers angry over oBike’s sudden exit

Local bike-sharing operator oBike has ceased their operations here in Singapore, after a special announcement letter appeared on its social media Facebook page yesterday.

oBike’s decision to exit Singapore comes after LTA new regulations and guidelines towards dock-less bicycle sharing, citing difficulties foreseen if they were to continue operating here.

As of Monday, the oBike app no longer works as well – it simply crashes or shows a connection error.

oBike currently has an estimated 1 million users on the platform and with the sudden exit, it is likely customers will not be able to recover their deposits or paid memberships when they signed up previously.

CASE has since received over a hundred complaints and advise customers to lodge a chargeback claim if they had made payment via credit card to the bike operator.
