Flip Grip lets you play Nintendo Switch games vertically without losing screen real estate

Flip Grip takes your vertical gaming to the next level

Nintendo Switch is a great console for playing games on-the-go but you probably didn’t know it is also a great machine for playing re-releases of classic titles, like those from SNK and Namco.

The Switch, however, wasn’t designed to play vertical-mode games, leaving two large black sides on the screen. Players could rotate the screen but since the Joy-cons rails are fixed, it’s not easy to move around with the Joy-cons detached.

Flip Grip is created to solve this hassle – it is essentially a single piece of accessory that locks the Switch screen in vertical mode, while the Joy-Cons slides into the rails on the sides exactly the way it should be. To unlock, simply lift a tab at the back.

Some of the classic games that are already available on Switch include Donkey Kong, Star Force, Gunbird 1 & 2, Pac-Man, Strikers 1945 I & II, as well as more coming soon.

Flip Grip is priced at just US$12 plus another US$3 to ship to Singapore, which is really a small price to pay for portable vertical-mode gaming on your Switch. The only gripe is it will only ship in November later this year.
