Here’s a stall you must visit when you dine at Geylang Bahru Food Centre.
It’s an ordinary-looking food stall that sits in the corner near the carpark with a large red signboard you can’t miss – Sheng Ji Soya Sauce Chicken Rice/Noodle (生記油雞麵).
Queue at 8pm
It was the only stall in the food centre with a queue at around 8.15pm. Luckily for us, the queue was moving fast.
Which likely means the food here must be good.
We spotted a row of glazed soya sauce chicken at the back of the stall.
The shop was tended by a couple of elderly women – one of them chopping the chicken while the other taking orders and serving out the bowls.
Most of the customers in the queue ordered noodles and according to the pricelist, it only costs $3 a bowl.
Generous Serving
We ordered the Soya Sauce Chicken Noodles with Chicken Feet addon and it costs only $5. We also asked for breast meat.
What we got was a bowl with a generous amount of noodles, huge chunks of chicken meat, around 5 pieces of chicken feet, vegetables, a piece of braised mushroom, chilli sauce and gravy filled above the noodles.
There’s also the red chicken rice chilli which you can take from the self-service counter at the stall.
It was absolutely delicious. The chicken skin was braised to perfection and the meat was tender and soft despite being the breast part.
So worth it.
