Xiaomi, despite starting out as a smartphone company, now has hundreds of appliances under their name. Already a household brand in China (and in many parts of the world), the brand is often praised for their attention to product quality and affordable pricing.
The Chinese tech company has long been making wireless routers but mesh routers have been missing from the line until this week. They have just released their first-ever Mi WiFi Mesh Router and besides the sleek look, it is also packed with some surprises.
While a Qualcomm DAKOTA quad-core processor might seem like an overkill, it actually makes a lot of sense. Xiaomi clearly wants to make products that last and the mesh router is no exception.
With each core running at 717MHz and 256MB of RAM, the Mi WiFi Mesh router is able to support a whopping 248 devices with stable connections at any one time, future-proofing it in the event you decide to connect more smart home devices to it over time.
According to Xiaomi, most bridging routers in the market relies on a wireless connection to “talk” with each other and thick walls tend to weaken the signal. By linking the mesh routers up using gigabit ethernet over powerline, users will always have the fastest connection wherever they are.
