Running out of food choices in Punggol? Here’s a food stall to try if you miss travelling to Japan for your favourite donburi (rice-bowl dish) or curry rice.
Maruhachi @ Happy Hawkers
Located at 671 Edgefield Plains (below Giant supermarket) beside the waterway, Maruhachi is a newly-opened Japanese food stall that specialises in Donburi and Curry Rice dishes that are staple dishes in Japan.
According to a YouTube interview, chef August is an Indonesian that has worked in Japan for over 3 years before being offered a job in a Singapore restaurant in ION Orchard where he mastered cooking Tonkatsu dishes.
Despite his young looks, he has since accumulated more than 15 years of cooking Japanese food.
Here’s a peek at some of the dishes available.
They have also recently added ramen dishes to their menu.
You can also find them on food delivery services GrabFood and FoodPanda.
Customers who chanced upon the stall in Punggol gave raving reviews and calling the food stall a hidden gem in the neighbourhood.
