This might be the best place to enjoy a plate of Ayam Penyet with lots of sambal chilli.
Pondok Pantai Timur
Located in Yummy Food Point coffeeshop at block 301 along Ubi Ave 1 is a hidden gem when it comes to Ayam Penyet.
For those not familiar with the Indonesian dish, it consists of fried chicken smashed to make it softer and often served with sambal chilli, cucumbers, fried tofu and tempeh.
The stall name is called Pondok Pantai Timur (which literally translates to East Coast Hut according to Google) and they sell delicious-looking Ayam and Ikan Penyet dishes that are served in a bed of chilli-filled wooden plate.
Here’s how they look like.
Customers can also add side dishes such as Bagedil, Tempeh, Omelette and more from $0.50 extra.
Besides smashed Ayam Penyet, there’s also Ikan Penyet from $6.50 per plate for those who prefer fish.
Here’s their menu.
Reviewers give thumbs up to their dishes, saying the meat is soft and flaky, and making sure your meal is served piping hot.
The stall’s Ayam Penyet is so good even popular food bloggers went down to try.
Food blog Singapore Foodie went behind the scenes to find out how it’s made.
Wow.
