Old School Coffee Place in Amoy St Food Centre serves Traditional Toasts & Drinks from $0.80

Has French Toasts with Kaya dip

The Phase 2 restriction has left many F&B businesses struggling during this period and this coffee place is no exception.

Ah Seng (Hai Nam) Coffee

Located in the once-bustling Amoy Street Hawker Centre, Ah Seng run by a mother and son duo is an old school coffee place that is known for its traditional coffee beverages and kaya toasts.

While many establishments had gone online with delivery platforms, it makes little sense for coffee and toast stalls Ah Seng to go online due to the low item prices.

According to netizen Cheryl Yap who frequents the stall, business is so bad she’s only the 2nd or 3rd customer at noontime despite opening at 6am early in the morning.

Cheryl also says it would be a shame to let costly lattes from malls replace local heritage coffee.

Prices of coffee and tea beverages at Ah Seng starts from very affordable rates of 80 cents, while toasts, eggs and French toasts range between $1.40 and $3.50.

Reviews online mention the kaya toasts are prepared in a traditional method using a charcoal grill.

Their French Toasts even come with a big serving of kaya dip.

Totally worth it.

You might want to support this mother and son stall if you happen to be in the vicinity.
