Missed travelling to Japan? Here’s a cafe you will want to try while waiting for the land of the rising sun to fully open up to tourists.
Hello Arigato
Located in the charming neighbourhood of Upper Thomson and the heritage streets of Joo Chiat, Hello Arigato is a budding cafe serving several Japanese-inspired comfort food.
Their bestselling items on their menu are their thick sandos (a nickname Japanese people give for sandwiches) which are made fresh using Japanese milk bread and fresh ingredients.
The signature Gyu Sando comes with medium rare Angus beef striploin and caramelised sweet onion jam.
There are also egg, chicken and seafood options if you can’t take beef.
Besides sandwiches, Hello Arigato also serves up pasta dishes and sides made using Japan-imported ingredients such as Hey Soba (cold matcha soba dish), Kani Udon, Sakura Ebi Udon, Hello Twister Fries (Joo Chiat only), Tokyo Street Corn and more.
Sure looks oishii.
If you are early enough, you might get to enjoy some of their popular bakes like the Matcha Mochie Cookie and Sticky Buns, available at both outlets while stocks last.
Walk-ins are accepted although Hello Arigato recommends making a table reservation.
