Gong Cha is celebrating the Mid-Autumn season with a new dessert beverage.
In a cup.
Gong Cha Tang Yuan 汤圆
That’s right – this week bubble tea lovers will be able to enjoy a somewhat different kind of beverage at Gong Cha, which combines the traditional Tang Yuan (rice balls) dessert with bubble tea ingredients in a cup.
It’s not exactly clear what ingredients go into the new Tang Yuan and from the promotional image, it seems there are likely grass jelly and boba pearls.
The traditional Chinese dessert is commonly eaten during the Lantern Festival as the name is a homophone for union and togetherness.
It is also usually served in a bowl with hot broth or syrup during this period.
In addition to enjoying Tang Yuan at Gong Cha with friends and family this week, the popular bubble tea chain will also be offering a 1-for-1 promotion on the new dessert drink from 27 – 30 September (Wed – Sat).
It will be available at these selected Gong Cha outlets:
- Northpoint City
- Lot One Shoppers’ Mall
- SingPost Centre
- Serangoon Nex
- Woodlands MRT
- Causeway Point
- Tampines MRT
- Compass One
A couple of things to take note of:
- Limited to the first 8,150 customers (八月十五)
- Orders are to be made via counter only
