Adidas launches new CNY Superstar classic sneakers emblazoned with “福“ character

adidas mistaken it as SHOU 寿

adidas’s new Superstar 80s CNY Shoes

Need a new pair of sneakers to impress your relatives this Chinese New Year? You can’t go wrong with this pair of Superstar 80s CNY sneakers from adidas.

Originally released as a pair of basketball all-leather low top, the Superstar shoe has become a pop culture phenomenon. Embedded with the traditional Chinese character “福” (pronounced as ‘Fu’) which means good fortune and happiness, the flashy new pair is now available on adidas Singapore online store.

Strangely, adidas Singapore mistaken the character as “寿” (pronounced as ‘Shou’) in their listing online, which is a different Chinese character signifying longevity. We have reached out to them for clarification.

The new shoe features a full-grain leather upper with metallic-gold lace tips, classic rubber shell toe, perforated 3-stripes with red accents and a modern comfort and performance of OrthoLite sockliner.
