Xiaomi’s new Mi 6X smartphone

Less than a year after the Mi 5X was announced, Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi is shortening their launch intervals their latest mid-range model once again.

The Mi 6X now comes with the newest (also mid-range) Snapdragon 660 processor and while aesthetically there are no major design changes to the body, there are two new AI cameras at the rear (20 and 12 megapixels) that comes with Sony IMX486 and Sony IMX376 sensors.

Other highlights of the phone include a 5.99-inch FHD+ display, front-facing 20-megapixel camera, 3010mAh battery with USB-C quick-charging port, and pre-installed with MIUI 9.5.

Similar to previous Xiaomi mid-range phones, the Mi 6X unfortunately still doesn’t have an NFC module for e.g. contactless payment or pairing with devices.

Mi 6X comes in three variants – 4GB + 64GB, 6GB + 64GB and 6GB + 128GB with prices ranging from ¥1,599 (S$335) to ¥1,999 (S$420). It is currently only available to the China market.
