One might think that exhibitions in Singapore are lackluster being too commercialized but NO Anime Festival Asia ’08 did not disappoint. In fact it surpassed my expectations and with day one over AFA’08 has somehow brought the message across to all exhibition organizers in Singapore saying "Yeah, this is how it should be done!"
A massive two-hall exhibition, you can expect a lot of activities going on and even though the Cosplay Mania competition going on today(Sunday), there are already quite a group of anime enthusiasts dressed up in their favorite characters on first day(Saturday). Apart from the cosplay fun, there’s a huge centre stage(no way you can’t missed it) which has events lined up throughout the day. I managed to catch a glimpse of the famous Gundam Mecha Designer Kunio Okawara together with Singapore’s Annual Bandai Action Kits Universal Cup (BAKUC) competition winners. There’s a lot to see and lots more to buy, with the amount of big brands and retailers everywhere in the halls displaying their latest collection of figurines and toys you might even spot something good.
The crowd is huge, so be prepared to queue up the ticket line if you are going down today and though with that said the layout of the exhibition was well planned with lots of spacious corridor along the exhibit stalls.
Day One done and over! Do drop by tomorrow at our website as I will be reporting the 2nd day events and happenings as well! In the meantime, you can check out more photos in our Great Deals Singapore Facebook Group.
