7 Places to Watch Countdown Fireworks Show

Bet You Didn’t Know Some!

It’s the time of year to celebrate and of course start a new one with a big booming fireworks show. But every year we are stuck with the same dilemma: where and when to go, drive or take public transports? And for the mere 10-15 minutes of eye candy, we head on down to Esplanade just to find everyone else already there, frantically searching for the best locations with just a few minutes left on the clock.

Sounds familiar? Don’t fret, we have list out some of the locations where you can get a good view of the fireworks from but always remember to plan your time and head down early because chances are your favorite spots are taken anytime after 10pm…

Esplanade Waterfront Promenade

The Esplanade is located alongside Marina Bay near the mouth of the Singapore River. It was built to be the centre for performing arts for Singapore.

The most convenient location but also the most crowded area for watching fireworks and photography. Get there as early as 8pm before the countdown for a good sitting spot.

The Helix Bridge

The Helix Bridge , previously known as the Double Helix Bridge , is a pedestrian bridge linking Marina Centre with Marina South in the Marina Bay area in Singapore.

This is a great place to watch fireworks from but the spiraling steel mesh design of the bridge might hinder your view slightly, however if you get there early you can make use of its five extended viewing platforms.

Marina Bay Sands Waterfront Boardwalk

This newly completed timber boardwalk is situated just in front of Marina Bay Sands. Great vantage point to watch fireworks.

You can reach here by walking from Esplanade to and then through the Helix Bridge.

The Promontory @ Marina Bay

This is a refurbished area used as an interim event space and public space used for activities such as theatres and carnivals.

Another good location for photographers getting a shot including the Marina Bay Sands hotels.

Clifford Pier

Clifford Pier (Chinese: 哥烈码头/红灯码头) is a pier located beside Collyer Quay at Marina Bay within the Downtown Core of Central Area, in Singapore’s central business district.

Great location for catching the fireworks too but a bit of a small area compared to the rest of the locations. Might get a better chance if you book a table at “One on the Bund” restaurant there.

Merlion Park

Merlion Park is located near Marina Bay, Singapore. This park is a popular tourist attraction. Possibly the closest you can get to the fireworks launch area.

Get there early though as this is a hot area for watching.

Esplanade Bridge

The Esplanade Bridge is a 260 metre-long (850 ft.) road bridge that spans across the mouth of the Singapore River in Singapore with the Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay on its northern abutment and the Merlion on the southern.

Perhaps the most sought out location for fireworks photography as you can capture both the merlion and the MBS hotels in view. The bridge will be lined with photographers for sure during the countdown so get there early and “book” a good spot with your tripod and SLR!

[DDET Why Marina Barrage didn’t make a good location? (Click here for our explanation)]Notice that we didn’t add Marina Barrage as our experience tells us the fireworks show will blocked out by the Marina Bay Sands Hotels. It’s probably the least crowded location to head to but unless you are prepared to hear only the booming of fireworks and not worried about not viewing the fireworks, it’s best to stick with our recommended 7 spots.[/DDET]
