Within 10 days, over 200 readers have voted on your favorite cinema in Singapore. It looks like most of our readers have strong preference on Cathay Cineplexes which garnered over 50% of the votes.
It’s interesting that although Cathay has only 5 compared to GV’s 9 cinemas locations island-wide, the former is still by far the more popular cinema based on the poll results. Both cinema houses offer premium alternatives as well: GV Grand and Cathay Platinum Movie Suites. We were a little surprised to see Shaw trailing that far behind after having 6 cinemas locally and IMAX technology in their Lido theatre. Filmgarde on the other hand, the newest independent cinema operator with only 2 cinemas in Iluma and Kallang Leisure Park, managed to overtake the least voted Eng Wah by 4 votes though we are not sure if our readers have experienced Eng Wah’s new cinema in Serangoon NEX or if that would have made any difference to their choice? Mistake: The cinema operator in Serangoon NEX is actually Shaw Theatres. (thanks aidnyl for pointing that out.)
