Yakult S’pore latest to say no to straws in battle against plastic pollution

Lift tab and drink instead

Yakult no straws? No problem, just lift cap to drink

Starting this week, the nostalgic sensation of poking that mini straw into a bottle of Yakult drink will be gone (at least in Singapore).

That’s because Yakult, the probiotic milk beverage company, has pledged to remove straws from their products Yakult and Yakult Ace Light starting this week in an effort to save the environment against plastic pollution.

They even provided instructions on how to continue to enjoy Yakult without straws – well, simply by removing the foil cap.

Look out for the new straw-free packaging from 2019 onwards.

Naturally, netizens and fans are reacting to the news. Some are not taking it well.

Although most welcome the idea.

Some are sarcastic.

There’s even constructive feedback such as this one.

So the next time you pick up a Yakult, don’t be surprised if they don’t come with straws.
