Huawei Y6 Pro out of stock on 1st day of NDP Promotion, suffers backlash from angry fans & customers

Huawei Y6 Pro sold out at all 27 stores

It was supposed to be a joyous occasion as Huawei Singapore plans to celebrate our nation’s 54th birthday this weekend.

By selling their Y6 Pro smartphone at just $54 (U.P. $198) contract-free, a fraction of its usual price.

Huawei S’pore will sell their Y6 Pro smartphone at only $54 for ages 50 and up from July 26 – 28

Huge Crowds of Uncle/Aunties

The promotion turned out to be a nightmare for Huawei as queues started forming way earlier than they expected. At one point, the police had to be called in to control the crowd at some malls.

At the time of this writing (12.50pm), all stocks of the said phone had been sold out at all 27 participating outlets.

Here’s the notice from Huawei Singapore Facebook page.

Here’s what they are saying if you can’t see the image above:

Dear Fans, we understand there are long queues at each Huawei Concept Store and selected retailers across the island. Due to overwhelming demand of our NDP $54 Y6 Pro 2019 offer, we are unable to provide the vast majority of you with this promotion.

We are truly sorry to have disappointed those who have showed your support from early morning.

Please be advised NOT to proceed down to any of our 27 outlets as all units have been SOLD OUT.

We will remain fully committed to existing customers. Thank you for your continued support and stay tuned for more offers and promotions from Huawei.

Lack of stocks

According to the comments left on Huawei Facebook page, many fans were furious not because of the overwhelming crowd but the lack of stocks at the stores.

A disgruntled Facebook user commented that there are only 10 – 30 units per store.

Some say Huawei should announce the number of units available per store to avoid such a chaotic situation.

To make matters worse, even non-Huawei staff at Courts had to suffer the wrath of angry uncles and aunties.

Or at least make an effort to provide stools for older folks.

Here are more Facebook users complaining about the situation.

TL;DR: No stocks already. Don’t go down to the stores and also tell your parents, uncles and aunties not to join the queues.
