Starbucks Touch Pen in Japan
Here’s a totally cool pen you might want to check out if you are going to Japan soon.
Starbucks Japan has recently added a new stationery to their merchandise called the Starbucks Touch Pen.
Not just a pen
Besides looking like an ordinary pen, the Starbucks Touch Pen can also be used to make payment for food and drinks at Starbucks stores in Japan.
Simply by tapping it on the contactless payment terminal like this.
It actually has a Starbucks Card in the form of an Integrated Circuit (IC) at the back.
A quick peek at the back of the pen reveals the secret.
It comes in three colours – Black, Silver and White, designed to look like a sleek coffee machine.
It even has brown ink instead of black or blue, just like the colour of coffee.
Price and availability
The Starbucks Touch Pen, unfortunately, is only available in Japan for now and is priced at ¥5,000 (~S$64) each. You also won’t be able to use it to make payments in Singapore since Starbucks Cards works differently in every country.
It does, however, comes with a lovely gift box if you are giving them away.
Let’s hope Starbucks Singapore makes one too.
