The famous Kwan Im Thong Hood Cho Temple (四马路观音庙) is closing its doors to the public from 27 March onwards.
Located near Waterloo Street in Bugis, the temple draws lots of devotees and tourists even on a weekday.
The temple is said to bring worshippers good luck after praying to the Kuan Yin, or Avalokiteśvara, the Goddess of Mercy.
Closed till further notice
According to a notice found on the temple’s entrance (spotted by a Facebook user from Singapore Atrium Sale), the management decided to close the temple temporary in light of the COVID-19 situation.
The management also apologises to devotees for the inconvenience caused and mentions that the closure will last until the situation improves.
Here’s a closer look at the notice.
Tentative Closure Period
Although the notice did not state when the temple will reopen, Singapore Atrium Sale mentions it will be closed tentatively till 30 April next month. The information likely comes from the staff working in the temple.
