While Doraemon toys and plushies are nothing new, Xiaomi is taking things to the next level collaborating with Fujiko, releasing quite possibly the world’s first Doraemon-themed smartphone.

Xiaomi teased about it from a promotional poster featuring Doraemon’s round hand a while back in April when it unveiled the Mi 10 Youth 5G smartphone.

There’s also a blueprint of the Doraemon-themed phone from another poster.

Finally announced

Fans were eagerly waiting for the Doraemon x Xiaomi phone since the announcement in April, with some online media wondering if the collaboration is even a thing.

Xiaomi China finally revealed the collaboration phone model yesterday along with a number of promotional images.

The Doraemon edition Mi 10 Youth 5G phone will be available for pre-order from the official site (and likely on Taobao official shop) from 28 August, 2pm onwards.

It will feature Doraemon designs on the back of the phone, along with a Doraemon-themed phone case and action figure included in the package.

Fans will want to keep the box too as it comes with Doraemon’s iconic bell.

Specs wise, it will likely be the same as the Mi 10 Youth 5G phone with Snapdragon 765G, 6.57-inch AMOLED display, quad-camera setup with a 48-megapixel main camera, 3.5mm headphone jack and NFC.

Price & Availability

There’s no word on the pricing yet but it probably won’t stray too far from the standard Mi 10 Youth 5G phone which starts from ¥1,899 (~S$376). It will only be released in the Chinese market.

Update: The Doraemon Mi 10 Youth 5G phone is now available for preorder on Xiaomi China’s website, priced at ¥2,799 (~S$554) for the 8GB + 256GB variant.
