Starhub has just launched its new 5G network service, beating competitors in the race to become the first telco to offer 5G mobile plans.
What’s 5G again?
For those unfamiliar with 5G, it’s the fifth generation technology standard for cellular networks which can deliver ultra-fast download and streaming speeds up to 1Gbps on supported devices.
That also means lower latency in gaming, less buffering when streaming videos and faster downloads.
Some of the newer phones that support 5G include Samsung Galaxy Note20, Huawei P40 Pro+, OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro, Sony Xperia 1 II and Xiaomi Mi 10.
Starhub 5G Mobile Plans
You can now sign up for Starhub’s 5G mobile plans which are called Mobile+, starting from $65 with 30GB per month for a 2-year plan with mobile device or smartwatch.
Here’s the breakdown of the plans.
Other perks that come with the new mobile plans include free incoming calls, free 3-month Amazon Prime, free caller number display and international roaming.
There’s, however, no 5G support for SIM-only plans at the moment.
5G Coverage
Do note that Starhub’s 5G coverage is not islandwide yet, so check the map below to make sure your area is covered before signing up for the new mobile plans.
Starhub also states that 5G network coverage in the above locations may vary and covers mainly outdoor areas only.
