60yo sachima snack stall struggles to keep afloat due to Phase 2 tightened measures

With the no-dine-in regulations during this Phase 2 period, many F&B businesses have been left struggling and many have tried to keep afloat by taking their business online with food delivery or offer discounts on takeaways.

The older generation of food sellers such as Pan Ji Cooked Food which specialises in Sachima (沙琪玛) snacks isn’t quite that internet-savvy.

60 years snack stall

The stall is run by Uncle Poon and is famous for his freshly-made Sachima honeycomb snack, patronized by snack lovers who come from all corners of Singapore.

However, business has been poor due to the tightened measures.

Netizen Cil Wong took to Hawkers United Facebook group to appeal for support so that we can continue to have traditional snacks to enjoy for many more years.

The Sachima snack is available in 3 sizes:

  • Small $2.80
  • Medium $5.50
  • Large $6.50

Here’s a photo of how much you will be getting for the prices (Yeo’s packet drink for reference).

According to another netizen Charmaine Wah, customers should WhatsApp the uncle (in Chinese) to place an order along with collection time since there’s a limited amount of snacks he can make per day.

Confirm must support, especially if you stay or run errands in the Chinatown area.
