NParks to give away 400,000 free seed packs this year, register by end-October

You might be familiar with terms like variegation or house plant names such as Alocasia, Monstera or Philodendron, but you probably didn’t know NParks is actually giving away seeds that will grow into edible vegetables.

Gardening with Edibles

In a bid to get the public to fall in love with community gardening and creating sustainable nutritional needs locally, NParks is currently giving away edible seed packs to every household in Singapore.

The seed packs will also come with instructions on how to grow them.

Currently, 90% of our food is imported, making us vulnerable to food supply disruptions. You can now play a part towards Singapore’s ‘30 by 30 goal‘ of producing 30% of our food locally by 2030.

This year, NParks will be distributing 400,000 free seed packs with 10 leafy vegetable varieties including:

  • Bayam (Red & Green)
  • Huang Jin Bai Cai
  • Kow Peck Chye
  • Nai Bai Cai
  • Chinese Mustard and more…

Here’s a peek at the vegetables when they are fully grown.

How to get the seeds

To receive the free seed pack, simply register from the official giveaway page online here or call 6499 1099 to key in your mailing address details via phone. The seed pack will be delivered by mail by SingPost.

Registration will end on 31 October (Sun) at 11.59pm.
