Xiaomi Reveals MIUI 6 Today & We Think It’s Beautiful

Flat and simple is the new cool

As promised Xiaomi revealed MIUI 6 today and while this new release is a major overhaul, the changes are still pretty subtle when compared to MIUI 5. Xiaomi’s latest ROM focuses on flat design and minimalism, taking away icon shadows and polishing on the fonts, locations of text, notifications and status bar. It is still very much Android beneath and it seems to fit nicely into Google’s Material Design guidelines, although we are pretty sure Xiaomi had already started working on MIUI 6 way before Google’s I/O announcement.

There are lots of software improvements in MIUI 6 as well such as the ability to identify unknown numbers to determine marketing, fraudulent and sales calls, new home screen gestures and notifications redesign, a new calendar and mail app, and many more. MIUI 6 will be available on newly announce Mi 4 smartphone and will roll out to the rest of Xiaomi phones in October this year.
