iPhone X (pronounced as iPhone Ten) is the company’s new flagship model that features a brand new design. Apart from the 5.8-inch edge-to-edge OLED Super Retina Display and surgical steel bands around the device, Apple has also removed the iconic Home button and replaced it with gestures for navigation.

Other highlights of the iPhone X include water and dust resistance, wireless charging, longer battery life, dual rear cameras with optical image stabilisation on both lenses, and portrait mode on the front camera.

iPhone X will also be the first to use facial recognition called FaceID to unlock the phone. According to Apple, the phone will adapt to the user’s face over time even with e.g. glasses, growing a new beard or changing hairstyles.

Apple has also introduced a new animated emoji (Animoji) feature on the iPhone X. By using FaceID, the phone maps the facial expressions to an emoji which users can record and send over via iMessage.

Available in Silver and Space Grey colours, the iPhone X costs $1,648 and will be available for pre-order through Apple Store Singapore from 27 October.
