LTA reveals new trains with foldable seats, draw flak from commuters

Why oh why

New tip-up seats to accommodate more standing space during peak hours (Photo: LTA)

As much as we appreciate LTA improving trains in Singapore, this one just doesn’t sit well with commuters (can’t resist the pun).

LTA today announced the arrival of 12 new trains with new red and green stripes livery, but lo and behold, some seats in the train can now be folded up!

While we welcome the idea to allow more standing space during peak periods, these tip-up seats will probably never get tipped up at all – that’s because nobody likes to stand.

Here are some legit reactions from the public on social media.

We can’t help but totally agree with the second sentence…

So true. Picture this – What happens when a senior walks into that cabin with seats all folded up? Awkward…

So, just how much standing space can we get with the seats folded? Not much tbh. ????
