Households and businesses in Jurong can choose to buy electricity from 14 retailers starting April 1

Jurong becomes the first town to get to choose electricity retailer from 1 April 2018 onwards

Starting from 1 April 2018, selected residential and business consumers in Jurong will be able to choose to buy electricity from a retailer of choice or continue to buy from SP Group at the regulated tariff under the new Open Electricity Market initiative.

Consumers will also be able to compare perks, discounts and prices from 14 new electricity retailers from the new portal developed by Energy Market Authority (EMA).

A quick search from the comparison portal reveals attractive contracts between 6 to 24 months. Consumers will be able to choose from fixed prices, a percentage of discount, peak and off-peak pricing, as well as free gifts and promotions from different retailers.

Currently, the soft launch is only available to residential or business premises in Jurong with postal codes that start with 60, 61, 62, 63 or 64.
